Bryce Canyon National Park
On the Sunday of Memorial Day Weekend, we made an early start in hopes of avoiding crowds, and set-off to spend the day in Bryce Canyon National Park.
We took a popular hike in the canyon, following the Queens Garden Trail to the Navajo Loop Trail. This is popular for good reason. You get to see some spectacular aspects of the canyon in a fairly short distance.
The walk up the canyon, through “Wall Street” was incredibly impressive.
Like other moments on the trip, I was glad to have Eli along with me, who was “oohing” and “aahing” right along with me. I appreciate his declarations of “breathtaking, dramatic, and so worthwhile!” despite Ben giving a thumbs down when the only trail-treats I brought was dried mango. Or, despite Norah’s insatiable hunt for cellular reception while on trails. (Pro tip: The tops of peaks are good bets).
After the hike, we traveled on to one additional lookout, but then we bailed on the park as the concession line was super long and the crowds were swelling. We hit the Subway just outside the park for lunch and headed back to camp to get ready for our jump to Zion.
